Another Stretch Goal! Slipcase Unlocked!

Another warm welcome to all our new backers. And once again I have woken up here in the UK to wonderful news! Together we have unlocked the Dungeon Slipcase!

The slip case is laminated and made from a thin card. A stunning high gloss finish completes the top end look.

We have challenged our printers to develop a slip which works with our format, and above is a closer look. The Slip is open both ends to accommodate easy insertion & removal of our wire bound books. The Slipcase increases durability & is invaluable in ensuring this book set will easily travel with you or sit together on your book shelf. 

This unlocks the core product we aspired to make with this Kickstarter. A 2 book set, 40 pages each, hard covers and a slipcase. But we still have a week to go, we close May 11, and we are still growing. 

So we will add more stretch goals to add more value for our backers, however we will say now these will not structurally change our core product, future stretch goals will be focused on adding value to other areas.

Next Stretch Goal - £95,000 - Bespoke Artwork for the Slipcase by James Gray

Those of you with eagle eyes will see that for our sample slip case we have simply used the artwork from one of the Books.

Each of the 2 books in The Dungeon set has a bespoke cover designed for us by James Gray. And now our beautiful books have a slipcase we want that to be amazing in its own right. So We will commission Jim to design a third Dungeon artwork for us to sit in pride of place on our slipcase. 

We want this product to be truly stunning. You have surpassed all our expectations with amazing ideas, comments and support and we consider ourselves privileged to be able to create such a wonderful product for you. We are really enjoying the creative process of producing these books, and of course tokens, and we are looking forwards to our last week which promises to be super exciting!

If this stretch goal is achieved we will add further stretch goals to add more token sheets to our pledges for you to use with The Dungeon.

A final note we have also hit our final Social Stretch Goal, so we add 2 pages to our adventure PDF to play through The Dungeon. AND as we have hit all our social stretch goals we will add a dungeon random generation document (pdf) to the Digital Dungeon Tile Set. This amazing news will merit its own update so we can look at the adventure module and dungeon generator in depth which will follow in the coming days. We will continue to limit ourselves to one update per day for the sake of your inboxes!!

Stretch Goal Achieved! The Dungeon will now have a Hard Cover!

We are flying through our stretch Goals! Welcome aboard to all our new backers, and thanks to everyone who has been sharing this Kickstarter and helping us to make this possible!

It's Official, The Dungen Books of Battle Mats will have hard covers.

These awesome laminated hard covers add a premium feel to The Dungeon set, brilliant for durability, they truly guarantee the Dungeon is a stunning quality and substantial book set!

We have challenged our printers to make sure these covers work with our format. I am delighted to confirm the covers are the same size as the internal pages, ensuring the Dungeon lines up seamlessly with no gaps.

Crucially we also retain our 360° wire bound spine, which allows you to fold the book in half if needed and level the pages as required. The books continue to lay dead flat allowing you to form large seamless adventure areas. There is no other format which offers you as many options, choosing a play area of anything from 12"x12" (one page of one book) to 24"x24" (two books together as a square), and of course beyond if you use multiple book sets. And that's before we start thinking about how those modular designs all line up.

And Coming next The Dungeon will gain a durable (and rather beautiful) slip case at £75,000.

A closer look at our add-on products!

We have been having quite a few questions about our add-on products and so now seems like a good time to introduce you to our back library which will be available to add onto your pledge in the Backetkit phase.

This update just covers the physical books. We will cover the digital bundles in a future update.

Firstly I will quickly cover off the housekeeping - How to do add-ons! There are 2 ways. Firstly when you select your pledge and your pledge amount in Kickstarter you can add extra funds to cover any add-ons you are looking at. This amount is carried across into Backerkit as a credit and it's there you will be able to select products to add on. The second way is you select your pledge level in KS but don't add extra funds at this stage, you can then add extra funds in the Backerkit phase. Backerkit is also when we will be collecting your shipping info and charging shipping costs. Any questions about how it all works please drop me a comment or message and I can clarify.

Please remember we have set a fixed postage rate based on your location which will not be increasing regardless of how many products you pledge for or add on. We hope this makes the cost transparent and easy to calculate!

Our add on Products - Our Book range

Our Books of Battle Mats - All our books are stand alone products, but using our unique format, modular designs and a standard 5 foot to 1 inch scale on all designs in all books our library all work together as well. They will also combine with The Dungeon, we have taken some pictures to show you how this looks at the end of this update.

The Big Book of Battle Mats - 12"x8" approx

Winner of the 2018 UK Games Expo People's Choice Award for Best Accessory. The Big Book of Battle Mats is a collection of 58 fantasy themed battle mat pages in a lay flat spiral bound volume, A4 in size per page. Designed to be carried with your RPG books and to provide easy access to a variety of environments to be used for encounters. The spiral binding allows the book to be laid flat and for each two page spread to be used as a single mat.

All designs have a 1" grid either as an overlay or as part of the design. Pages are laminated so can be drawn upon and wiped clean using wet or dry wipe markers or chalk pens. 

The Giant Book of Battle Mats - 12"x17" approx

Attention Adventurers! The game is afoot, and it just got bigger! The Giant Book of Battle Mats is a collection of 62 battle mat pages in a large lay flat spiral bound volume, A3 in size per page. Designed to provide easy access to a variety of environments to be used for encounters.

The spiral binding allows the book to be laid flat and for each two page spread to be used as a single mat. All designs have a 1" grid either as an overlay or as part of the design. Pages are laminated so can be drawn upon and wiped clean using wet or dry wipe markers or chalk pens. Designs are arranged so that they can be used as single pages or as part of a double page spread.

Please note for the most part the designs in the Giant Book are expanded versions of the designs in the Big Book with extra features taking advantage of the extra space. The Giant Book also boasts 2 additional maps.

Books lay 100% flat to double the map size, or can be used one page at a time for smaller encounters or where space is tight thanks to the wire bound spine. This book features many modular designs which can line up across multiple books for a really epic adventure!! Featuring 60 map pages of wipe clean Sci-Fi themed maps with a mixture of grid and hex overlays.

The Little Book of Battle Mats - Dungeon Edition

This week we announced the exciting new addition to The Dungeon Kickstarter - The Little Book of Battle Mats - Dungeon Edition. 

The Little Book of Battle Mats - Dungeon Edition - is a 40 page 6"x6" wire bound, fully laminated book of battle maps. It will be available as an add on for £9 in the Backerkit phase of this Kickstarter, and we have included it in our new Double Dungeon pledge.

We have designed the Little Book of Battle Mats - Dungeon Edition as a stand alone Battle Map Book (it will have an RRP of £10) which will specifically compliment The Dungeon. Here are some pictures of the Little Book in action - 

The Little Book of Battle Mats - Dungeon Edition - adds even more options and opportunities for your adventure. It will bridge across books if you would like to add separation to your dungeon and add space and rooms where and when you need them. 

Of course both The Dungeon Books of Battle Mats and the Little Book of Battle Mats - Dungeon Edition - are fully compatible with our existing Books of Battle Mats.

The Little Book will be available as an add on product and we have included it in the Double Dungeon Pledge level.

Stretch Goal Achieved - Token Sheet will be added to the Dungeon!

Wow, we have hit the Token Sheet Stretch Goal this morning so now The Dungeon will include an architectural token sheet of features to customise The Dungeon just how you'd like it! 

We have had some amazing suggestions for what to include and what format to use (please keep them coming) and we will be sharing more design details from the token sheet in future updates, for now here's a taster of some of our previous work which will look familiar to our previous backers, The Dungeon Token sheet will obviously be designed in the style of The Dungeon!

New Stretch Goals

And now the exciting news! As we have already achieved all our stretch goals to add extra designs and pages we wanted to do something rather special. And we are now revealing our next two stretch goals so you can see the value we are adding together!

We have been working behind the scenes with our printers and we have been able to add a hard cover to The Dungeon! Uniquely we retain our 306° wire bound spine and add the rigidity of a laminated hard cover! We have been exacting in our requirements and our printer has delivered! We insist the cover is exactly the same size as the internal pages (usually they protrude which is no good for lining books up) so our Dungeon set continues to line up seamlessly, with the 360° spine allowing you to level pages off as before. We have exhaustively tested dozens of book designs to create a lay flat and level tome, and this format is the only way to create a flat play area. Adding a hard cover in this way maintains our lay flat format while adding a lot of robust shelf appeal!

This amazing addition does add to the weight and so we have also been working very closely with our fulfilment agent GamesQuest and we have found a fulfilment solution which allows us to add this cover while not increasing the shipping rate, we have set a fixed shipping rate and it will not be changing.

I think you'll agree that the hard cover really does make the Dungeon amazing value and adds a robust quality which takes this product to the next level.

But we are not finished yet! Our following stretch goal will be......

One of the key advantages of the Dungeon is that it travels with you and in order to help keep things neat when we achieve £75,000 we will add a slipcase for The Dungeon. This tough case is made from the same grade of paper as our pages (so more a card) and is laminated for durability. This finishes the set off beautifully and adds tons of shelf appeal. 

Again we have had to challenge our printers to produce something which is compatible with our format, so this slip is open at 2 ends to accommodate easy removal and insertion of the wire bound books from either end.

These two stretch goals complete the product we aspired to create through this Kickstarter. We are really excited to be able to bring these stretch goals to the project, we have had to be rather creative on several fronts to achieve this and we hope you are as excited as we are!!

The Little Book

And Finally I had promised this update would be about the Little Book of Battle Mats - Dungeon Edition - but as we have hit a stretch goal I am afraid I have had to delay news about the Little Book until tomorrow.

The Little Book of Battle Mats - Dungeon Edition - is included in the double dungeon pledge level and will be available as an add on product.
