Addresses will be locked next week

This is your one week warning that we will be locking addresses next week. You will receive an additional reminder from Backerkit with 48 hours to go but now is the time to update your details if they have changed.

You update your address in your Backerkit survey. If you cannot find your survey follow this link - https://dungeon-battle-mats.backerkit.com/

Our Books are currently at the printing stage of proceedings! We are locking addresses next week because we need to pass details onto our fulfilment partners and regional hubs so they can start planning and preparing everything.

This is happening a little earlier than we were originally planning, however this Kickstarter has 5,300 backers shipping over 7,000 Dungeon sets, 3,500 Little Books, 7000 pack of add-on stickers and over 1200 add on books worldwide via 5 different hubs each with a different ship. It's a big spreadsheet.........

And yes in case of emergency we can help you out after addresses are locked!

And if you are one of the 130 people who have not completed your spreadsheet this is your moment! If you don't complete your survey we cannot ship your rewards!

Any questions please ask :-)

Dungeon Decals!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Sep 19, 2019 at 01:50:07 AM

This update has some more news on the Dungeon Decorations!

Hi there Dungeoneers!

As printing is now well underway for The Dungeon Books of Battle Mats we are busy planning the fulfilment stage! More will of course follow on what to expect when the books leave the factory. We will be fulfilling in October, its looking likely to be the end of October based on the estimates we have been given from the printers, and we will keep you up to date with all the latest news as we have it.

In the meantime we have had some more samples through from the printers of our Dungeon Decoration static clings! These samples are to allow us to finalise and confirm the designs (the files for which have several layers when they go to the printers so they're quite complex) it is really worth getting extra samples to confirm everything is how we want it, its always money well spent!

We have made a minor amend to the piles of gold to add extra gold to conceal the tiny areas where the white underlayer showed through, and confirmed the files can go to print.

And of course we have had to THOROUGHLY test the static clings out. I have taken some pictures for you so you can see how they look in action! These samples are shown on the tavern page from the Giant Book of Battle Mats.

Please excuse the pics from my phone on my office floor, the lighting is perfect just to the left of my desk!

BEFORE - The Giant Book of Battle Mats Tavern maps
After - The Giant Book of Battle Mats Tavern maps with the Dungeon Decorations
Suddenly I really want to know whats in that room............
This is how many decorations I used
This is what the Dungeon Decorations will look like when you receive them. In a neat pack!

And finally housekeeping!

Please can you log back into your backerkit survey and check your address details are correct. If you can't find your survey email you can recover it here - https://dungeon-battle-mats.backerkit.com/

You should have received your digital content in an email directly from DriveThruRPG. If you haven't seen it the email may have ended up in one of the lesser know email folders clutter/spam/promotions etc. If you can't find it please reach out and I will sent you a new link. The Digital Dungeon includes these tokens.

There are still 130 of you who haven't completed your surveys. Just a quick reminder that we cannot ship your books, and you won't receive any digital rewards, unless you fill our your survey to give us your details! Reach out if you need your link or have any questions.

We are getting pretty excited now as it feels we are so close now to getting you your books, and we just can't wait to show them to you!

Oh and as a final final note the last content to complete the digital dungeon - the Dungeon generator and the adventure module - are very close to completion now. The delay here has been caused by mission creep, but frankly in a good way. The Module is looking amazing but it is considerable meatier then we first envisaged. Hats off to John who has excelled himself here!

The Dungeon Generator has been Matt's baby, and it is what I will call "comprehensive"................

More to follow :-)

Address changes and a picture from the factory!
over 4 years ago – Wed, Sep 11, 2019 at 01:21:53 AM

Hello Dungeoneers!

This is very much a "housekeeping" update. The Books are currently at the printing stage (I have popped a picture in the update so you can see how we are getting on!) so now is the time to make sure all your address details are correct.

While we won't be locking addresses until the books are approaching the fulfilment centres (so there is plenty of time and there will be more reminders) this is an opportune moment to make sure your address details are up to date.

The address you gave us in your Backerkit survey is the one we will ship to, so please make sure it is correct. You can check this by going back into your Backerkit survey (there is also an update address button on the right if you need to make any changes).

Currently we are looking at fulfilment at the end of October.

As a reminder from Update #50 here is our draft timeline -

  •  Printing and finishing - Happening Now!!

This is dehumidifying, printing, laminating, finishing and shrink wrapping the books in their slip cases. The print run covers all the Dungeon books and the add-ons as well as the extras we are ordering for retail.

  • Shipping (factory to Hubs) - 21 days

Directly from the factory the books will ship to our fulfilment hubs. We expect they will be on the water for approx 3 weeks. Hopefully we will be able to find out ship names as it is possible to track your Dungeon as it travels the world  (frankly that's loads of fun!)

  • Unloading and customs - 1 week

This is a variable as we don't know how busy the ports and customs will be, we will allow 1 week although it could take a little longer.

  • Shipping (Fulfilment) - up to 3 weeks (plus shipping time to you)

Once the books hit the fulfilment centres it can take up to 3 weeks to process and pick all the pledges and ship from there. Then we add on the actual time in transit to you (this will vary depending on where you are, although we are planning to use 5 regional hubs so this will drastically reduce transit times). We are hard at work with our partners to minimise this processing time and hopefully we can save some time here.

Here is the current state of the Dungeon!

Any Questions please reach out :-)

The Adventure Module and Dungeon Generator
over 4 years ago – Thu, Aug 29, 2019 at 03:06:52 AM

This update will focus on the progress of our Adventure Module and Dungeon Generator.

These are the final two elements to complete the Digital Dungeon package, and once complete these will be added to the Dungeon title on DriveThruRPG.

Starting with the adventure module, this will be finished and uploaded in September. Huge apologies for the delay, what started out as a module of a dozen or so pages has grown rapidly into an in depth adventure of 80 or so pages! John who has been leading the writing has done an awesome job with this and we cannot wait for you to see it!

The Dungeon generator, which will be titled 'Dungeon Run' is also coming along very nicely alongside the module. We have included a couple of pages here so you can get a feel for what the generator will look like.

In progress example from 'Dungeon Run'

Dungeon Run will have a page dedicated to each two page spread from the books themselves alongside generic tables for creating random dungeon encounters.

The manufacturing is now underway and we will keep you up to date with how this progresses and when the books are likely to be complete and leave the factory!

If you have any questions please reach out!

The stickers in action!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Aug 19, 2019 at 02:53:00 AM

We have been hard at work on the stickers!

Here as promised is the long awaited video update of our stickers in action!

We have gone with a static cling after testing and retesting pretty much every sticker our manufacturers had to offer (needless to say they have a rather broad range!).

The issue we ran into was adhesion. Stickers stick very well to laminated surfaces and we had a lot of issues with damage getting them off again. We were testing a laminated vinyl sticker (which is the toughest highest quality you can get in terms of stickers) and we were seeing too much damage even with really low levels of adhesive.

We resolved this by going for a static cling format. These are thin flexible stickers without any glue, they cling to smooth surfaces so can be used on any laminated surface and also glass. They are just perfect as you can see in the video. They are thin, flexible, easy to pop on and off and they are incredible sturdy and robust and wear is non existent thus far (and we have been playing with these quite extensively!). They leave no residue, can be left in the book as long as you like so you can prep games ahead of time and store the clings in the book if you'd like to for easy transport.

So we are delighted to finally present them to you!

The last few weeks have been very detail focused for us going back and forth with the printers to agree, check and double check every detail! We have now begun printing and we will keep you up to date as we move through manufacture!

Just so you have a glimpse into the sort of details we have been finalising (above and beyond obviously the designs to ensure they come out exactly as we want them too) we need to set case quantities (i.e. how many books in a case) and plan how high they can stack (we only stack 5 cases high on a pallet to prevent squashing). We don't "flood fill" our shipping containers (i.e. stack to the roof) so once we have all this info we then start planning fulfillment - how many containers and what needs to go where!

Big nod to our fulfillment partner GamesQuest here who will have the job of coordinating fulfillment from 5 regional hubs and who are involved at this stage to get the process underway! They will coordinate directly with our manufacturers to specify quantities, shipping destinations and packing requirements.

Any queries please reach out in the comments or via message!
